What is Giclée Print?

Giclee prints are high-quality fine art prints produced with an inkjet printer. The word "giclée" comes from the French "gicler." Giclee prints typically use specialized printers that spray tiny droplets of archival-quality ink onto a variety of substrates, including acid-free or pH-neutral paper, canvas, and fine art materials.
Valued for its accuracy in capturing subtle nuances of color and texture, reproduction of fine detail, and ability to maintain print quality and appearance over time, it allows digital artwork to be printed or reproduced with high fidelity and quality to the original. Using archival quality inks and substrates, it resists fading and aging, making it suitable for art collectors and museums. It is commonly used to reproduce paintings, illustrations, photographs, and digital artwork.

02

What is Limited Edition?

This refers to a specific number of reproductions of a work of art that are produced and sold in limited quantities. Only a specific number of copies are made for sale, and once that number is reached, no more copies will be made. Limited edition reproductions are numbered (1/100, 2/100, etc.) and signed by the artist.

03

What is Framing?

Framing refers to the process of placing a work of art, such as a painting, drawing, photograph, or print, in a frame. The purpose of framing is to enhance the visual appeal and presentation of the artwork as well as to protect it from light, dust, moisture, and scratches. The choice of frame style, material, and color can have a significant impact on how the artwork appears. Overall, framing plays an important role in the display, preservation, and appreciation of fine art.

MATTING

Matting is a framing technique in which a matting cardboard is placed around the artwork inside the frame. It creates a visual boundary between the artwork and the frame, creating a clean, sophisticated look. It also adds depth and volume to the artwork. It draws attention to the artwork, enhances the color and composition, provides a buffer between the glass or acrylic, and helps prevent direct contact that can lead to sticking, smudging, and other damage. Overall, matting is an important aspect of fine art framing, contributing to both the visual presentation and preservation of the artwork.

FLOAT MOUNTING

A float mount is a framing technique in which an artwork or photograph is attached to a mount with a small gap between the edges of the frame so that it appears to float within the frame. In this method, the artwork is secured to the mount with hinges or other attachment techniques so that the edges of the artwork are visible. The overall effect is a clean, minimalist presentation that highlights the artwork without obscuring it. Float mounts are often used to display delicate or valuable artwork.
